Long Thanh International Airport to cost over US$6b

Last weekend, ministry of transport recently approved the general plan for building Long Thanh International Airport (LTIA) that had been set up by Japan Airport Consulting Co (JAC)). The southern region aviation Co was the main investor of the project.

The new airport was sited in Long Thanh Dist, Dong Nai province, about 43 kilometres from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in the east. In the first phase of 2020-2030, the airport has designed transportation capacity of 44.5 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of commodity by 2030.

The construction for this project was expected to start in 2018 with initial investment capital of US$6.048 billion. The two main construction items for this project will be the airport’s landing runway system (with investment cost of US$1.277 billion) and airport terminal of US$1.4 billion. – Dautu
