Long Thanh airport set to take off

Plans for Vietnam’s would-be largest international airport, Long Thanh have been submitted by the Ministry of Transport to the prime minister for approval.

The airport will be built in southern Dong Nai province’s Long Thanh district, with construction expected to begin in 2015 with an estimated investment of $6.744 billion for the first phase.

The airport project’s key components are the $1.27 billion runway system and parking place and the $1.4 billion passenger terminal.

The ministry has suggested the Vietnamese government inject capital in building the airport’s infrastructure, while efforts are made to call for the private sector investment for building the passenger terminal. – VIR
