Lilama Affiliate Installs Turbine 1 of Power Plant in Central Highlands Vietnam

Lilama 45.1 Joint Stock Company, a subsidiary of Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama), has installed a 225-ton stator for turbine 1 of the 180-MW Dong Nai 3 hydropower plant in the central highlands province of Dak Nong.

The move is part of preparations for commercial operation of the turbine in October, the Dien Dan Doanh Nghiep online newspaper reported.

The VND5.1-trillion (US$268.4 million) plant, which is under construction on the Dong Nai River in Quang Khe commune of Dak Glong district, is expected to contribute 589 million kWh of electricity a year to the national power grid.

Vietnam is forecast to face a power shortage of one billion kWh this year; however, a large number of power projects nationwide are currently lagged behind their schedules.-VCCI
