Lam Dong urged to build coffee trademark

The Central Highland province of Lam Dong should fully tap its potential for further development, with a focus on building trademark for coffee products, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Mr Dung made the request while working with the province’s key leaders in Da Lat city on July 22.

The PM praised the efforts provincial authorities and people have made to achieve a high and sustainable economic growth rate averaging 14 percent per year. Over the past five years, Lam Dong has seen remarkable improvements in infrastructure, healthcare services, education, employment, poverty reduction, and administrative reform.

Mr Dung asked provincial leaders to introduce more effective measures to fulfill this year’s set targets for socio-economic development and successfully organise Party congresses at all levels. Lam Dong should encourage all economic sectors to take part in development activities, he said.

Mr Dung highlighted Lam Dong’s potential for developing tourism and organic farms. He suggested the province boost its food processing sector and build brand names for its best-known products, including tea and coffee.

He also reminded the province not to neglect poverty reduction, education, or heath care in remote areas, nor the restructuring of rural labour.
