July sees highest industrial production index

The index of industrial production (IIP) in July increased 6.1% over June, the highest rate since the beginning of this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

According to the General Statistics Office, IIP in July rose 9.6% over last July, and IPP in the first 7 months of this year increased 8.8% against the same period last year.

IIP of the mining industry in the 7-month period increased 1.7% year on year, that of the processing and manufacturing industries surged 11.9%, and that of electricity, gas and water production and distribution industry rose 10%.

Specifically, IIP of sugar production surged 44%, pottery and porcelain up 35.7%, non-alcohol drink up 19.1%, crumbled paper and wrapping up 18.7%, thread, cloth and garment up 18.2%, steel up 14.3%…

IPP of Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City in the first 7 months of this year rose 5.2% and 6.4%, , respectively, compared with the same period last year.

The capital city’s industrial production value surged 12.6%, and the southern city’s rose 12.7%.
