Japan – attractive market for Vietnam’s garment and textile exports

A seminar on garment and textile trends in the Japanese market and opportunities for Vietnamese businesses was held in Hanoi on May 10, with the presence of Fumio Koyama from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Although Vietnam’s garment and textile exports increase every year, exports to Japan only make up 10 percent, Mr Fumio Koyama said.

He also noted that Vietnam needs to be more active in sourcing materials, manage the production process more closely, and train a strong team of designers to meet the demands of different Japanese customers and fashion trends.

Vietnam should also focus on raising the quality of its products, he said.

The event was organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).  -VOV
