Jan 3: Vietnam central bank keeps dollar exchange at vnd20,828 for 10 days
Vietnam’s central bank set the U.S dollar exchange rate at VND20.828 on the Jan 03, 2012, unchanged for 10 days.
The State Bank of Vietnam succeeded in its commitment of keeping the exchange rate under 1% through the year-end.
Commercial banks are allowed to apply effective exchange rate +-1% from the official exchange rate set by the central bank, accordingly, the ceiling price for a dollar today was VND21,036.
Commercial banks set dollar offer at VND21,036 and dollar bids at VND21,010- 21,036.
Dollar prices have not been seen any changed so far in the New Year both in official price and the price in the green market. Analysts and traders believed that dollar exchange rate will be remained till the Lunar New Year (by the end of Jan, 2012).

In the free market, dollar prices were traded stably in the new year. A gold shop in Hanoi quoted dollar exchange rate at VND 21,290-21,330 for bid and ask, respectively.
