Jabil invests more $70m for production expansion

Jabil Circuit Incorporation, multi-functional group who provides solution for electronic industry and is listed on New York stock market with the share code “JBL”, will kick off the plant in Hochiminh City High-Tech Park (SHPT) in this September.
The information was confirmed by Michael Matthes, Jabil’s Vice President of Operations-Americas at the meeting with HCM City People’s Committee.

Talking to Thoi Bao Kinh Te Saigon Online, Le Bich Loan-Vice Head of SHTP Management Board said that Jabil’s investment for the second phase (production expansion) is $70 million with main products of office equipments, data storage, computer, telecommunication, health and accurate sample for plastic industry.

“With total registered capital of $100 million for both phases, the plant of Jabil Vietnam in SHTP was operational from September 2007, employing almost 800 workers including 25 foreigners. Till now, the accumulated export value of the project is about $213.5 million while its import spending is $182.7 million”, she added.

Formed in 1966, JBL has around 75,000 staffs working in US headquarter and plants in 21 nations and territories, providing components to well-known firms namely Nokia, Philips, Cisco, HP, IBM… with total annual turnover of $10 billion.
