Italian-made motorbike to enter Vietnam
Italia-based HP Motorcycle Co has just signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a motorbike assembly and manufacturing joint venture in Vietnam, according to newswire Vneconomy.
The joint venture, of which the plant is expected to be located in the northern province of Hung Yen, will have its products sold in the domestic market and exported to Italy and some other markets. Other details of the plant have yet been revealed.
HP Motorcycle has recently presented in the Vietnamese market via the imports and distribution of its products.
Its first three scooter models that have been recently launched in Vietnam included Santo, Monte and Romeo at a retail price of around 50 million dong per unit.
HP Motorcycle is a subsidiary of Italian motorcycle group Maggiora, but it is not as well-known as Piaggio or Ducatti in its home market.
With the new movement of HP Motorcycle, three well-known Italian motorcycle brands have marked their presence in Vietnam.
While Ducatti only focuses on importing and selling its products, both Piaggio and HP have their assembly plants established in northern Vietnam.
