Italian engineering businesses visit Vietnam
A group of mechanical businesses from Emilia Romagna region in northern Italy will come to Vietnam to explore the market and meet with their potential Vietnamese counterparts.
At the press conference on June 1, Marco Saladini, the Italian Trade Commissioner in Vietnam, said that there will be 15 meetings held between the two countries’ businesses in Ho Chi Minh City on June 7-8 and in Hanoi on June 9-11. At these meetings the representatives from Emilia Romagna’s business associations and from Vietnam’s industrial associations and trade promotion agencies will discuss modern technology solutions.
Emilia Romagna is an industrially developed region in Italy, and mechanical engineering is its spearhead industry. Six businesses, that will visit Vietnam this time, concentrate mainly on producing automobile and motorbike parts, food processing lines, and agricultural machinery. Some of them, including Ducati Motor, Sai Spa and Galtech have already established representative offices in Vietnam.
According to the Italian Trade Commission in Vietnam, Italy’s total industrial mechanical exports to Vietnam last year reached last year nearly Euro163 million with Emilia Romagna accounting for more than 30 percent alone.
Although the region’s export earnings to Vietnam are still low, it has gradually increased over the years. As the country’s economy is growing rapidly and the nation is aiming to become an industrial country by 2020, Emilia Romagna is keen to strengthen cooperation and expand its business in Vietnam.
