Investments in IT sector speed up
Information and technology (IT) and telecommunications enterprises have to be ready their power sources to realise targets in the scheme of bringing Vietnam to become a great nation in terms of IT by 2020.
That is one of tasks for IT and telecommunications firms assigned by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
In a bid to complete the assigned tasks, CMC registered to reach a software manpower of over 5,000 people with a revenue of $200 million from software sector in 2015.
In the field of manufacturing equipments, CMC also pledged to become a leading firm in manufacturing of computer, Smartphone, and other handheld digital devices such as Vietnamese brand iPad with a hope to account for 10 percent of the domestic market share and towards exports, according to Nguyen Trung Chinh, CMC’s general director.
Nghiem Phu Hoan, deputy general director of Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT), said to contribute to bringing Vietnam to become a powerful nation in IT and telecommunications sectors, VNPT plans to spend over 63 trillion dong on carrying out five key tasks. Of which, about 56 trillion dong will be spent on perfecting the IT and telecommunication platform including launching the Vinasat-2 satellite, strengthening network capacity and service quality of two mobile networks namely VinaPhone and MobiFone, and expanding broadband network along with developing other value added services (VAS).
Not yet revealing the exact figure of investment for assigned tasks, Nguyen Manh Hung, deputy general director of Viettel, confirmed that in new development stage, Viettel needs new conceptions in manufacturing activities, investments abroad, broadband Internet universalisation and software development.
Under the approved scheme of bringing Vietnam to become a power in IT and telecommunication sector by 2020, to 2015, the country must form regional and international scaled companies and groups. Of which, some of them must reach a revenue of $10 billion. Five key enterprises were trusted by MIC including Viettel, VNPT, VTC, FPT and CMC.
However, according to the general Statistical Office (GSO), during the first 11 months this year, net revenue of post and telecommunication sector reached 119.7 trillion dong. Of which, VNPT’s figure was 76.9 trillion dong, up 23.5 percent from the same period last year while the target that VNPT aims at is to reach 100 trillion dong in 2010.
Also in Jan-Nov, Viettel gained 35 trillion dong in revenue (excluding revenue from investments abroad). meanwhile, the firm’s targeted figure this year was 90 trillion dong. – Vietbiz24
