International tourists arrivals to Vietnam falls in May

Total international visitors to Vietnam in May reached nearly 351,000 arrivals only, down 18.9 percent against the previous month, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

Particularly, arrivals by air way reached nearly 273,000 people, accounting for 78 percent, visitors by road at 75,000, accounting for 21.3 percent and travellers to Vietnam by sea 3,000 people, accounting for 0.85 percent.

Arrivals for rest purpose reached 230,000 people, up 28.7 percent against last May, tourists to Vietnam for business purpose with 71,000 people, up 13.8 percent year-on-year, and arrivals to Vietnam to visit relatives reached 34,000 people, rising 0.6 percent yoy and travellers for other purposes with nearly 16,000 people, down 11.5 percent year-on-year.

Also according to VNAT, tourists to Vietnam from China led the market with a year-on-year rise of 93.3 percent and then Cambodia (90.7 percent), Korea (26.3 percent) and Australia (24.9 percent).
