International conference promotes friendship between regional provinces
An international conference was held last week in Thailand’s northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani to strengthen the friendship between twinned provinces in six countries in the region.
Representatives from four Vietnamese provinces, Quang Tri, Hue, Quy Nhon and Kon Tum, attended the conference along with entrepreneurs and researchers from 10 other provinces in Laos, Cambodia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Thailand.
The conference was a good opportunity for the provinces to remove obstacles to cooperation and boost development.
The Governor of Ubon Ratchathani province, Surapol Saipan, said the event aimed to expand cooperation in business, investment, tourism, culture, sports and healthcare among provinces and cities in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries, ASEAN, and Hunan and Guangxi provinces in China.
In his speech at the conference’s business and investment forum, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Thailand, Nguyen Thanh Hung, gave a presentation on the opportunities and challenges for business and investment in Vietnam.
He said Vietnam’s Trade Bureau in Thailand is ready to act as a mediator in meetings to discuss multifaceted cooperation between Vietnamese and Thai businesses.
An ASEAN trade fair and Isaan fashion fair were also held during the conference, displaying a wide range of food products, home appliances and fine arts and handicrafts.
