International arrivals up 35pct

During the first seven months this year, inward arrivals to Vietnam increased 34.9 percent against the same period last year, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

In July, the country saw 410,000 arrivals, rising 9.1 percent from the previous month and 51.5 percent from last July.

Totally in Jan-Jul, Vietnam welcomed over 2.9 million international visitors including 1.8 million for the purposes of tourism and relaxation, 586,000 for work, and over 347,000 for visiting relatives, increasing 44.4 percent, 45.7 percent and 2 percent year-on-year respectively.

Notably, the number of foreigners to Vietnam for other purposes posted a fall of 1.7 percent to about 142,000.

Chinese tourists saw the highest increase with 95.4 percent and followed by Cambodian 93.1 percent, Thailand 32.1 percent and Korean visitors with 31.1 percent. – TBKTVN
