Interbank transaction volume surpasses vnd87.5 trillion on oct 31

Total transaction volume in the interbank market in Oct 31 exceeded VND87.5 trillion, 3.5 times as large as that on Oct 28, the central bank’s data showed.

Demand for 1-week interbank loans surged unexpectedly as the total transaction volume for the term on Oct 31 surpassed VND68 trillion, 6.3 times as large as that for overnight term of the same day (VND10.7 trillion).

The interest rates in the interbank market on Oct 31 were reported to rise for almost all terms compared to those on Oct 28.

Specifically, 1-week interbank interest rate represented the most impressive increase of 4.97% from 13.61% on Oct 28 to 18.58% p.a., hitting the 19-month high on Oct 31. Interest rates also surged 1.47% to 13.42% p.a. for 3-month; up 1.37% to 17.04% p.a. for 6-month terms.

However, the average overnight and 1-month rates fell 1.37% and 0.25% p.a., respectively while those for 2-week and 12-month terms remained unchanged at 15.18% and 14% p.a.
