Industrial Parks, Golden Chance for Economic Development

Industrial development is a key factor for Vietnam’s economic development. Over the past recent years, when the social demand grows, Ca Mau province’s industrial sector has gained great strides. The province will soon put into operation key industrial parks (IPs), expected to bring the local industrial sector to a new height.

Khanh An Industrial Park

Located in Khanh An commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province, Khanh An Industrial Park is next to Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex. Some 52 km from Nam Can port, 11 km from Ca Mau Airport and 10 km from the central city of Ca Mau, Khanh An IP covers a total area of 360 hectares, including 217 hectares for industrial land. The first IP in Ca Mau has a total investment of over VND800 billion. The IP is particularly suitable for the agro-forestry-fishery processing sector as well as consumer goods production. The IP is attracting industries using natural gas as fuels and materials for the production of construction materials, ceramics and chemicals.

Industrial Parks, Golden Chance for Economic Development

The IP is situated at a very favourable condition for transport thanks to a four-lane road linking it to National Highway 1A, ensuring means of transport of a 30-tonne load. It also houses a water supply system with a daily capacity of 12,000 cubic metres. The telecom system meets investors’ demand. It now gets power from 35Kv Cai Tau station and from 110/220 KV-station from 2010.

The IP is attracting projects in the areas of agricultural product processing, animal feed production, seafood, construction materials, liquefied gas and chemicals.

Nam Can IP

Nam Can IP was set up under the prime minister’s approval issued at Document 179/TTg-CN on February 01, 2008 and Decision No. 730/QD-UBND on October 26, 2007 by the Ca Mau People’s Committee. The IP covering 515 hectares is located along Cai Lon River, which is very suitable for goods import and export. The IP has a 12,000-m3 water supply station, a 35KV power station, a road linked to National Highway 1A and Nam Can seaport. Another waste treatment plant with a daily capacity of 38 km is situated nearly Bo De gate.

Nam Can IP is encouraging investors in the fields of seaport services, shipbuilding and fishing tool production and several related services.

Song Doc IP

Lying to the east of Song Doc town and some 50 km from Ca Mau city, Song Doc IP covering 250 ha will be developed into a seafood and animal feed processing centre. It is also aimed to become a centre for repairing small ships. The IP now has a 22-KV power station, a 4,000-m3 waste treatment plant and a residential area.

Song Doc IP is calling for investment in the fields of animal feed, sea exploitation, depots and ship repair.

Hoa Trung IP

With a total area of 352 ha, Hoa Trung lies in Luong The Tran commune in Cai Nuoc district and Ly Van Lam commune in Ca Mau province. It is on the Ca Mau – Dam Doi road. It is also adjacent to Ganh Hao River. It is still under constructin to welcome investors. The IP now gets power from 220/110 KV station which is just 500 m from the IP. It has a clean water supply station with a daily capacity of 4,200 m3 per day and a 4,000-m3 waste treatment plant. It is connected to National Highway 1A by a road. Currently, a 36-ha services and residential area is built near the IP to provide accommodation for local people and labourers working in the IP.

The IP is encouraging investment in aquatic processing, animal feed and aquatic breeding.

Nguyen Viet Lap, Deputy Head of the IP steering board, said the IP licensed three projects worth VND101 billion in August this year, raising the IP’s total project number to nine valued at VND657.38 billion, accounting for 66 % of the year target. The provincial authorities also instructed business registration procedures and issued planning certificates for three projects in Hoa Trung and Song Doc IP.

Incentives

Based on the Investment Law 2005 and Decree No. 108/2006/ND9-CP issued on November 22, 2006, by the prime minister, when investing in Ca Mau province, firms will be offered priorities regulated by the state laws. Particularly, industrial parks in Ca Mau will also receive incentives stipulated for a remote and disadvantaged area. Therefore, investors in local IPs will enjoy the highest priority level in im-export taxes and corporate income tax. Besides, investors also receive the province’s support in business registration procedures under the “one door” model, labour recruitment and land use.
