Idemitsu delays Vietnam refinery start to 2014

Japanese refiner Idemitsu Kosan Co said on Friday it has delayed the projected start of operations of Vietnam’s second refinery, the 200,000 barrels per day Nghi Son Plant, to sometime in 2014 from its previous plan for during the April 2013

The move reflects a slight delay involving a final investment decision by the end of March 2011 from 2010, a company spokesman said.

Partners for the second refinery are Kuwait Petroleum International and Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan Co, each with a 35.1 % stake; PetroVietnam with a 25.1 % stake; and Mitsui Chemicals Inc with the remaining 4.7 % stake. – Tuoitre
