Ho Chi Minh GDP growth reaches 10,3% in 2011

Ho Chi Minh City ‘s Gross Domestic Product ( GDP) growth is estimated to have increased 10.3% in 2011, the city’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said.

The city’s GDP is estimated at VND503.28 trillion, increasing 10.3% from 2010 but lower than the earlier target of 12% and down 1.5% compared with growth rate of 2010 (11.8%), the City’s GSO added.

However, the GDP growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fisheries is at 6%, higher than earlier plan of 5%. The sector growth is estimated at VND5.55 trillion, accounting for 1.1% of the city’s GPD.

Construction and Service sectors post a lower GDP growth than their targets. The construction sector growth is at VND224.38 trillion, accounting for 44.6% of the city’s GDP and the service sector posts VND273.30 trillion or 54.3% GDP.
