Higher price but shortage of coffee

The prices of Arabica coffee in Da Lat, the center highland of Vietnam doubled from 2009 to VND14,500/kg while the supply is not enough as the coffee output only stands at 10,000 tons/year

The prices of Arabica coffee in Da Lat, the center highland of Vietnam doubled from 2009 to VND14,500/kg while the supply is not enough as the coffee output only stands at 10,000 tons/year, the online newspaper Tuoitre reported on December 29, citing Le Quang Dao, Deputy general director of Thai Hoa Lam Dong Coffee Company.

The world demand of Arabica coffee planted in Da Lat have been increasing sharply due to exclusive quantity however the output dropped due to unfavorable climate condition.

The Arabica plantation area currently accounts for 5%-6% of total Robusta coffee area in Vietnam.
