High class wood items export to China increases

Vietnamese wood items export turnover into China gained a sharp growth of 2.45 billion US dollar in January – Sep period, rising 38.4 percent in comparison with a year ago thanks to high consumption demand, said Dang Quoc Hung, deputy chair of the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of HCM City (HAWA).

In first eight months of this year, Vietnamese wood and wood items export reached over 230 million US dollar, soaring nearly 130 percent over year back. Accordingly, China has become the big importer of Vietnam (following America with $889 million, EU with $387 million and Japan $271 million), according to Vietnam Industry and Information Centre (VITIC).

Hung added that this year’s wood items export turnover might earn over three billion US dollar meanwhile handicraft export has not reached positive result because of lack of orders or price competition with Chinese wood providers. – TBKTSG
