Hi-tech base tip for City economy

The chairman of HCM City People’s Committee has called on Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) to help make the city economy highly technology-based.

Le Hoang Quan while visting the complex last week hailed the growth achieved by the software industry and pledged support for the QTSC to develop quality human resources.

Established in 2001, the City houses 101 companies, including 43 from abroad, that have invested around US$75 million and have 22,380 software programmers and students.

Their turnover this year is expected to top $78.5 million, three times the 2005 number.

The QTSC has developed infrastructure for creating a database centre that will serve the municipal email system, a cityweb and a server system for the e-government programme at a cost of VND18.4 billion ($940,000). — VNS
