HCMC estimated to post $1Mln trade surplus in Mar

Ho Chi Minh City(HCMC) is estimated to run a trade surplus of $1 million in March, the city’s Statistical Office said.

In details, HCMC export revenue rose to $2 billion, up 4.5% on-month while import turnover also climbed to $1.999 billion, up 8.8% on-month.

However, in the first quarter, the biggest city of Vietnam still saw a trade gap of $150 million, including $5.67 billion export revenue, up 20.7% on-year and $5.82 billion import turnover, up 26.3% on-year.

Staples which saw the highest export revenue increase were crude oil ($1.53 billion, up 11.9% on year), rice ( $562.3 billion, up 25.1% on year), textile and garment ($487.5 million , up 17.3% on year).

In the opposite side, the groups of product showed highest import revenue were fuel($378.8 million, up 83.7% on year), milk and milk products($119.9 million, up 35.4% on year).

Vietnam is estimated to have incurred a trade gap of $3.03 billion or 15.78% of the export revenue in the first quarter of this year, down 11% on-year, the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) said. – Stoxplus.com
