HCM City’s Jan-Sept GDP growth at 10pct year on year

HCM City’s GDP (gross domestic product) growth in the first nine months of this year is estimated to have reached 358.361 trillion dong (according to the real price), increasing 10% from the same period last year (it was 11.2% in last Jan-Sep), HCM City Statistics Bureau said on Wednesday September 21.
Under which, non-state economic sector posted a rise of 12.2% and made up 2.2 percentage points while the state economic sector contributed 7.8 percentage points of the city’s total growth.

The added value of agro-forestry and fisheries is estimated to have reached 3.071 trillion dong, or 0.9% of GDP, up 5.8% year on year.

The added value of industry and construction sectors is estimated to have reached 163.776 trillion dong, accounting for 45.7% of GDP and up 9.6% on year (industry was up 9.6% and construction up 10% on year).

The added value of service segment is estimated to have reached 191.514 trillion dong, accounting for 53.4% of GDP and up 10.5% on year, marking the sector with the highest rise year on year.

For the whole year 2011, HCM City’s GDP is estimated to have increased 10.2%, of which, the commerce sector is forecasted to have reached the highest rise of 10.8% and followed by industry and construction with 9.7%, agro-forestry and fisheries with 5%.

On Sept. 20, Hanoi also announced its GDP in the first nine months of this year with an estimated rise of 9.4% from the same period last year.
