HCM City’s export turnover reaches over $1.569b in Feb
HCM City’s total export import value in Jan-February is estimated to reach $5.932 billion (excluding the export turnover of crude oil), the General Statistical Office (GSO) reported.
Of which, the city’s export turnover in February is estimated at over $1.569 billion, down 10.8 percent from the previous month. If excluding the export turnover of crude oil, HCM City’s export turnover fetched $1.052 billion, falling 18.8 percent month on month.
Totally, during the first two months this year, the city’s export turnover reached over $3.329 billion, rising 19.7 percent from the same period in 2009. If excluding the export turnover for crude oil, the city’s export turnover in Jan-February reached over $2.348 billion, up 19.9 percent year-on-year.
Of which, the export turnover of rice in Jan-February is estimated to reach $250.1 million, accounting for 16.7 percent of the city’s export turnover (excluding the crude oil), increasing nearly 3 percent y-o-y (increasing 1.3 percent in quantity and 1.5 percent in average rice price).
Following is coffee with an export turnover of $91.4 million, rising 14.2 percent, seafood products ($59.6 million, rising 10.6 percent), garment and textile ($311.2 million, accounting for 20.8 percent of the total export turnover and rising 13 percent), and footwear ($80 million, rising 12.3 percent).
The city exported 1.306 million tonnes of crude oil, down 6.7 percent year-on-year, worth $980.9 million, rising 19.4 percent thanks to the average price increased 27.9 percent from the same period last year.
In addition, the city’s import value in February was nearly $1.597 billion, down 19.7 percent year-on-year, bringing the total figure in Jan-February to nearly $3.584 billion, a year-on-year rise of 24.4 percent.
In Jan-Feb, HCM City-based enterprises imported $78 million. Of which, milk and its products was up 16 percent year-on-year, fuel import at $99.3, down 19.7 percent (down 56.6 percent in quantity and the average fuel price increased 85.2 percent) and import for iron and steel at $38.8 million, rising 66.6 percent y-o-y.
Thus, in first two months this year, HCM City’s trade gap was $55 million, and it was over $27 million in February alone.
