HCM city to stabilize prices of school equipment and milk
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade stated on May 10 that it plans to stabilize the price of school equipment and powdered milk until the end of 2011.
Under the stabilization program, the city will offer loans worth US$25 billion to 10 enterprises to stabilize prices of school equipment until the end of October.
Price-stabilized school equipment will include student uniforms, notebooks and school bags.
The volume of price-stabilized items will be 20-30 percent of the demand during the new school year 2011-2012. This will include 14.4 million notebooks, 560,000 uniforms and 150,000 school bags.
Participating enterprises have promised to keep their prices 15 percent lower than market prices.
As for powdered milk, Vinamilk and Nutifood companies will support the program to supply milk for babies under 12 months and for old people. Both the companies are Vietnam’s leading manufacturers of dairy products and baby food.
The two companies have pledged to supply about 6,000-6,300 tons of powdered milk every month at stabilized prices until the end of December. – SGGP
