HCM City stores fined over pricing

Inspectors discovered during an investigation that 56 stores, mostly in districts 6 and Cu Chi, were violating the HCM City regulations on pricing of goods.

Market watch officials in HCM City fined the retail stores and markets for charging prices beyond the regulated level or selling products or services without listed prices.

Most of the violations occurred in shops or services related to construction materials, footwear, pharmaceuticals, food, electrical and household appliances, vehicle spare parts and motorbike parking.

In May, 18 out of 28 stores found violating price quote regulations were located in those districts.

The campaign, which ran from April 19 to June 2, also aimed to enforce regulations on listed prices at traditional markets in the city.

The HCM City Market Watch Division said it would continue to strengthen management on prices of products and services as well as inspect speculative practices, particularly on essential goods and those on the list of the city’s price stabilisation programme. — VNS
