HCM City hosts international food and drink expo

As many as 168 businesses from 11 countries attended an international food and drink exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City on September 8.

The event was jointly held by the City’s Department of Industry and Trade and the Ho Chi Minh City Food Association.

The exhibition features 250 stands, showcasing food-processing products, food services for hotels and restaurants, and introducing modern technology in food-processing and packaging.

As part of the exhibition, a Vietnam brewage and drink festival was also held to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi as well as a conference on food safety, technology transfer and activities to promote Vietnamese drink.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Thanh Bien said the event aimed to promote the food and drink industry and provided opportunities for enterprises to exchange experience with international counterparts.

“The exhibition is also part of Vietnamese Using Vietnamese Products campaign,” said Mr. Bien.
