HCM City affirms 2,500 overseas Vietnamese-owned enterprises

During the last 30 years from 1981 to 2011, HCM City-based banks have transferred over $20 billion of inward remittances, accounting for over 60% of the country’s total figure, the HCM City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese reported.
Money spending of overseas Vietnamese on social charity activities reached more than 60 billion dong in the reporting period, according to the VnExpress.

Annually, around 500,000 arrivals of overseas Vietnamese [Viet Kieu] visit their relatives, search for business opportunities, investment, educational and training cooperation, and technological exchange in Vietnam. 80% of them have time to live temporarily in HCM City. – Vietbiz24
