HCM City’s CPI drops slightly
Ho Chi Minh City’s consumer price index (CPI) in July was down by 0.09 percent compared to the previous month, said Du Quang Nam, Head of the Municipal Statistics Office.
This is the first time since November 2009 that the city’s CPI has shown a slight decrease.
The slowdown is due to a reduction in the prices of food and building materials, especially those of oil and gas since June 8.
Since March, the price of food has kept falling, but it is still higher than in early this year.
In July, the price of gold went up by 1.83 percent and that of the US dollar by 0.43 percent against the previous month.
