Hanoi’s CPI may increase by 1.3-1.5pct in January

Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade predicted that the buying demands in the city would increase sharply during January 2011 due to the approaching Lunar New Year Holiday.

The consumer price index (CPI) in the first month of 2011 may increase sharply due to the fact that there would be large amount of money to be used in the market by the consumers by the end of the year. The CPI may rise by 1.3-1.5 percent in January.

The prices of some goods may surge, such as meat (5-7 percent), processed food from meat (1-2 percent) and commodities in supermarket system (5-10 percent) due to high demands from consumers, dragging the prices to climb up. – TBKTVN
