Hanoi authorities reject bids for 11 golf course projects
The Hanoi City People’s Committee has rejected 11 proposed golf course projects and approved of 8 others.
The 11 proposed golf courses that were rejected were seeking to build in the following areas: Golf course in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, Cam Quy Lake Golf-Resort-Entertainment Centre; (Ba Vi District), Long Bien Ecotourism golf course, Thanh Tri 36-hole golf course, Me Tri Sports and Entertainment Centre golf course (Tu Liem District), Tuan Chau Ecotourism and Entertainment Centre’s golf course (Quoc Oai District), Melinh Residential Area golf course, Ba Vi International golf course, Temple Lake Golf & Resort golf course, Phu Man Ecotourism Service Centre’s golf course (Quoc Oai District), Dong Suong Ecotourism Centre and golf course (Chuong My District).
The authorities demanded, within the first three months of 2010, that investors of these projects contact the Department of Planning and Architecture to have their projects re-evaluated and re-zoned for other possible commercial interests, according to the government’s general planning rules, before they could be approved. After this period, if investors still hadn’t contacted the department, their projects would then be reassigned to other investors.
The 8 golf course projects which were approved are Van Tri golf course, Hanoi golf course, Dong Mo golf course, Sky Lake Resort and Golf Club, Soc Son International golf course, Long Bien golf course, and Quan Son Lake Ecotourism Centre’s golf course (My Duc District). With these projects, Hanoi authorities require investors to play an active role in resolving any problems that might occur, thus ensuring all production and trading activities comply with government regulations. Any problems must be reported to the Hanoi City People’s Committee before mid-year 2010.
The Tan Vien International Tourism Centre’s golf course (Ba Vi District) project, which already deployed its first stage (18-hole golf course), was approved for the second stage. Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Tan Vien Petroleum Joint Stock Company, as the two investors of the project, must report to the authorities on whether they would like to continue the project to its next stage.
In the report written to the Prime Minister, Hanoi authorities only proposed that 10 projects to be cancelled (4 had been approved and were acquiring land), but later Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park’s golf course project was also rejected following the government’s decision.
