Hanoi attracts nearly US$1 billion of FDI in nine months
(VOV) – Hanoi attracted US$999.6 million of FDI in the first nine months of 2011, a three-fold increase over last year’s period, said the City Statistics Office.
Of the total, US$494 million was registered by 190 newly-licensed projects, while the rest was poured into 49 ongoing projects.
Major projects include a wastewater treatment project invested by Gamuda Land Vietnam (US$322.2 million), a project to add more capital to the Vietnamobile service provider (US$385 million), and a project to add more capital to the Global telecommunication Corporation (US$117 million).
Hanoi is expected to lure US$1.5 billion from 455 projects in 2011, 390 of which are newly-licensed projects with a total registered capital of US$760 million.
According to the City Statistics Office, investment development capital was estimated at approximately VND130,000 billion, up 11.6 percent from 2010. VND37,574 billion was from the State budget, up 5.4 percent.
The Hanoi municipal People’s Committee has asked related agencies to speed up the disbursement of capital construction investment and Government bond capital.
