Haiphong welcomes first foreign investor in 2010

The northern port city of Hai Phong issued an investment license for the Sumida Vietnam Company on January 15.

The company is under Japan’s Sumida Corporation, a world leading group in electronic parts with branches across the world.

The company’s US$100-million investment project aims to produce power transformers, coils and accessories for civil electronics as well as automatic, industrial and medical devices. All of these products will be exported.

Construction sets underway in January and will be finished in May this year. It is expected to create 1,500 jobs for Vietnamese and foreign workers and will last for 50 years.
