Hai Phong urged to become industrial city

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng urged Hải Phòng to fully tap its available potentials, especially seaport system, to become a modern industrial city by 2015 at the 56th anniversary of the city’s liberation day.

Addressing the event on Thursday, the Government chief hailed the efforts and solidarity the local authorities and people have made to attain great and comprehensive achievements.

A dynamic economic growth recorded in the past five years pushed the city’s average income per capital to 1.5 times higher than the national level.

The ratio of industry-construction sector in 2010 accounted for 90% of the city’s economic structure.

Achieving these gains, Hải Phòng, however, needs to prioritize investment in mechanic engineering, ship-building, supporting, cement, steel, aquatic processing industries, PM Dũng stressed.

At the same time, it should inject more investment in developing deep seaports and related services, he added.

Besides, the city also needs to boost external linkages and international integration, and actively implement the cooperative program on “two corridors, one economic belt,“ the leader said.
