Guangxi to build cross-border economic cooperation zone

China’s Guangxi province will step up the construction of a cross-border economic cooperation zone between Pingxiang and Dong Dang (Vietnam) and turn it into an import-export processing centre and international distribution depot.

Beijing-based reporter from Radio the Voice of Vietnam said that Guangxi will also upgrade special economic zones in Pingxiang in order to develop the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area further.

According to a memorandum of understanding on building a Chinese – Vietnamese cross-border economic zone, signed between Guangxi and the northern province of Lang Son in January 2007, Pingxiang and Dong Dang will reserve 8.5 square kilometers along the common border to build a cross-border economic cooperation zone. – VOV
