Good opportunity for Vietnam’s construction materials in Mid East

Vietnam’s construction exporters have a good chance to expand their business in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia (UAE) as they are considered potential markets for construction materials.

The two countries have respectively accounted for 29 percent and 30 percent of the total 2,000 projects implemented in the Midle East, said the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The Middle East’s high demand for construction materials is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses as local producers can meet only part of the increasing demand, said Tran Van Huynh, chairman of the Vietnam Construction Materials Association (VCMA).

The Vietnam Trade Promotion Department recommends more surveys to identify the demand of the market as well as a closer participation in construction material fairs in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The Government will help enterprises participate at the Big 5 – International Building and Construction Show 2010, one of the most prestigious fairs in the Middle East, by subsidizing stall rental and the cost of promotional material for the two potential markets.

According to VCMA, Vietnam’s construction materials earned as much as US$230 million in 2009 and the export turnover is expected to reach US$350 million in 2010.
