Gold prices reach new peak of VND29.9 million/tael

Following a sharp increase of the world’s gold prices, the domestic price of gold set a new record of VND29.9 million/tael on September 17, up VND70,000-100,000/tael from the previous transaction.

In Ho Chi Minh City, SJC gold at 10.25am was transacted at VND29.85-29.90 million/tael.

Meanwhile, in Hanoi, Thang Long Dragon gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company at 10.30am hovered around VND28.90-29.89 million/tael.

In gold stores, the atmosphere seemed quiet because few investors were buying gold at these prices and many sellers were waiting for even higher prices.

The domestic gold prices were strongly affected by world gold prices, which reached a new peak of US$1,280 per ounce last night.
