Gold prices reach nearly VND30 million/tael

The world’s gold price reached a record high US$1,276.5 per ounce in the New York market on September 15, pushing the domestic price of gold to a peak VND29.76 million/tael.

At 11.20am, SJC gold transactions at the Sai Gon Jewelry Company in Hanoi hovered somewhere between VND28.96 and 29.03 million/tael. Also, gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company stood at VND29.66-29.74 million/tael, up VND400,000/tael compared to the previous transaction.

In Ho Chi Minh City, SBJ gold was transacted at VND29.69-29.73 million/tael and SJC gold was listed at VND29.68-29.70 million/tael.

The domestic gold prices were affected much by the world’s gold shift. At present, in the New York market, it is standing at US$1,269.7 per ounce, US$25 more than the value on September 14 and surpassing the previous record set on June 21 (up US$4).

The USD/VND exchange rate remained high, hovering around VND19,502-19,505 per USD. – VOV
