Gazprom to invest Vietnam offshore fields

Russian energy giant Gazprom plans to spend some 9.43 billion rubles (US$319 million) on offshore oil and gas development in Vietnam next year, a Russian business daily said Tuesday.

A Gazprom official confirmed that the Russian gas monopoly will invest in Vietnamese PSA projects,

Vedomosti said. Gazprom will also spend 5.48 billion rubles ($186 million) on oil and gas offshore development in India’s Bay of Bengal, the paper said.

However, the exact amount of work on Vietnamese and Indian offshore fields is not disclosed. Vedomosti said Gazprom has six blocks in Vietnam, where gas production could start in 2015 at the earliest.
