Fruit Festival wrapped up in Tien Giang
The first Vietnamese Fruit Festival closed in the southern province of Tien Giang on April 24.
At the closing ceremony, the organising board awarded 88 golden cups for the cause of developing the quality of Vietnamese and ensuring food hygiene for fruit growers, honoured 61 creative farmers and recognised 28 green destinations in 12 provinces and cities across the country.
The festival also approved 4 Vietnamese records the longest graffiti painting of a dragon, the four mythical beasts in tribute to the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the largest map of Vietnam and the biggest dragon gate, all made of fruit.
The festival is jointly held by the Tien Giang Provincial People’s Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Tran The Ngoc, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and also Head of the Festival’s organising board said that after the festival the province should review plans for fruit in the region, create and implement projects to develop the quality of Vietnamese fruit and develop a comprehensive policy for growers, invest in processing companies and promote the image of Vietnamese fruit to global markets.
