Foreign visitors to Vietnam on the rise

The tallied number of foreign tourists to Vietnam in the first ten months of 2010 reached 4.17 million, up 39 percent over the same period of 2009, announced by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Of the total, more than 440.000 foreigners came in October, a 99.3 percent increase over October, 2009.

Vietnam’s main markets for tourism have increased visitation, including Cambodia (up 97.2 percent), China (90.3 percent), Thailand (41.1 percent), Republic of Korea (36.2 percent, Japan (22.2 percent), France (15.4 percent), and the US (7 percent).

During 10 days of the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi (October 1-10), the capital attracted about 1.2 million domestic tourists and 300.000 foreign travelers.

The tourism sector has set a target of welcoming about 4.2 million visitors to the country in all of 2010. – VOV
