Foreign airlines flocking into Vietnam on strong growth
The strong recovery of Vietnam’s aviation market has attracted more and more foreign airlines to flock into the ASEAN country in this winter, said the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV).
The administration said that Vietnam will receive a total 58 flights per week in this winter, up 17 flights from summer.
The domestic aviation market will see the entry of LOT Polish Airlines and Turkish Airlines, the administration said.
The Polish airline has offered services on Warsaw and Hanoi route from middle Nov while the Turkish airline will conduct its first flight between Istanbul and Ho Chi Minh City late this month.
The CAAV has also licensed Dragon Air to raise flights between Hanoi and Hong Kong to 10 from seven, and Tiger Airways to raise Ho Chi Minh City-Singapore flights to 21 from 14.
Meanwhile, Eva Air will open two more flights on the Taiwan-Hanoi route, and Cebu Pacific will add four flights a week between Manila and Ho Chi Minh City.
Qantas Airways has offered services on Doha-Hanoi route, raising its total flights to Vietnam to 11 a week in this winter, from four a week in summer.
The national flagship carrier Vietnam Airlines has raised its flights between Hanoi and Shanghai to seven from four, between HCM City and Shanghai to seven from four, between Hanoi and Busan to seven from four and between HCM City and Kuala Lumpur to seven from four.
The airline has also added more flights from HCM City and Hanoi to Tokyo, Nagoya, Moscow and Paris from this winter.
Vietnam currently welcomes 51 airlines, comprising of 47 foreign and four domestic airlines of Vietnam Airlines, VASCO, Jetstar Pacific and Air Mekong. – VOV
