Footwear exports hit record high

In the first half of this year, Vietnam’s footwear export turnover reached nearly US$3 billion, up 31 percent over the same period last year.

In June alone, export earnings hit a six-month record high of more than US$610 million. This was the first month since early this year footwear exports have surpassed the US$600 million mark for each month.

According to the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lafaso), businesses have received orders until the end of the third quarter and signed a number of contracts for the fourth quarter.

The number of export orders for this year has risen 20 percent over last year (The price value of contracts up 7-10 percent) thanks to a sharp increase in bulk orders from importers.

However, some businesses have had to reject orders for fear of fluctuations in the local workforce. – VOV
