First turbine of Vinh Tan 2 thermo power plant

Hoang Trung Hai, deputy minister attended the handing over ceremony to carry out Vinh Tan 2 thermo power plant and other projects in Vinh Tan Power Centre in Tuy Phong Dist, Binh Thuan province.

As planned, Vinh Tan thermo power centre has total investment capital of about $6.1 billion, including three power plants and one seaport with total designed capacity of 4,400 MW, producing about 28.6 billion KWh per year; in which Vinh Tan 2 thermo power plant has designed capacity of 1,244 MW, with total investment capital of $1.6 billion.

At present, the project is in preparation period for being started. However, the investors have encountered some difficulty in arranging capital for the project.

The deputy prime minister requires the investor to ensure the projects’ implementation pace for the other two projects of Vinh Tan 1 and Vinh Tan 3, together with putting the first turbine of Vinh Tan 2 thermo power plant into operation in 2013.
