First software technology park built in the north

The Hanel company held a groundbreaking ceremony in Hanoi on April 23 for construction of the Hanoi Software Technology Park, the first of its kind in northern Vietnam.

The project covers more than 40 hectares within an urban ecological project which is also invested by the Hanel company.

The park will have seven sections, including a five-star hotel complex and a hi-tech trade centre, and will create 15,000 jobs and provide accommodation for 5,000 experts and engineers. It will also have the capacity to train 5,000 information technology workers each year.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Van Phong said that this project will contribute considerably to creating technical infrastructure for the software industry

Construction of the park is expected to be completed by the end of 2014, after which the park should be able to earn US$1 billion in revenues from software production each year. – VOV
