First crude imports feed VN’s first oil refinery

A crude oil tanker from Azerbaijan arrived at Viet Thanh bay on August 11 to supply raw materials for the Dung Quat oil refinery in the central province of Quang Ngai.

It is the first shipment under a deal signed by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) with the SOCAR Company of Azerbaijan and the BP Group.

Under the deal, SOCAR will supply Dung Quat refinery with 65,000 cu. m. of crude oil by mid-August and BP, another 65.000 cu.m. by late August.

Crude imports will be blended with crude pumped from Bach Ho oil field in southern Vietnam’s waters for cheaper inputs and better outputs. – VOV
