First biological power plant to be built
A bio-electrical power plant will be built in the midland province of Phu Tho to generate electricity from biomass such as rice straw, trunks of maize, beans, peanuts, and cassava.
The Phu Tho People’s Committee granted an investment license for the project, said the provincial department of planning and investment.
With a design capacity of 40MW, the VND1.16 trillion Biomass plant is expected to produce 331.5 million kWh per year with state-of-the-art technology imported from G8 countries.
Once put into operation in 2013, the plant will create nearly 3,500 jobs for local people while helping to deal with agricultural waste and rural garbage. – VOV
