Final bids set to go for Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway

The last two out of a total of eight bidding packages for Vietnam’s Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway were handed over to the Korean company in charge of the project on April 6.

The Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Company (VEC) was responsible for the handover to Keangnam Enterprises Co., Ltd of the Republic of Korea.

The A4 bidding package covers construction work on a 29.74 km highway costing over 1.6 trillion VND (US$83.2 million) in the northern province of Phu Tho while the A5 package worth over 1.9 trillion VND in the northern province of Yen Bai has a total length of 41.15 km.

The transfer of the A4 and A5 bidding packages helps ensure the projects progress, said Tran Xuan Sanh, VECs general director, adding that construction work for both packages is scheduled to last 36 months.

The Hanoi-Noi Bai highway project will be built at a total cost of nearly 20 trillion VND, of which US$153 million will be funded by the VEC’s government-guaranteed bonds. The remainder will be in loans from the Asian Development Bank.
