EVN starts operation many power plants in 2011

At the conference discussing about the group’s 2011 business plan, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) group announced to officially put into operation a series of power plants nationwide, in order to help realise the targeted growth rate of 7-7.5 percent of 2011 GDP.

In details, EVN planned to start operation total 12 turbines with designed capacity of 2,198MW, including the second, third and forth turbines of Son La hydropower plant (3x400MW), the second turbine of Song Tranh 2 hydropower plant (95MW), the second turbine of Dong Nai 3 hydropower plant (90MW), four turbines in An Khe Kanak hydropower plant, Dong Nai 4 hydropower plant (2x170MW) and extended Uong Bi thermo power plant (300MW).

In 2011, the group will also kick off construction works on five projects with total designed capacity of 3,830MW such as Mong Duong 1 thermo power plant (2x500MW), Duyen Hai 3 thermo power plant (2x600MW), extended Vinh Tan 2 thermo power plant (2x600MW), the second turbine of O Mon 1 thermo power plant (330MW) and Song Bung 2 hydropower plant (2x50MW).

In addition, the group also plans to start operation the transmission grid such as 220KV Buon Kuop-Dak Nong and the 500KV transmission line from Pleiku to southern region, and to push up construction process of the 220KV transmission line of Dak Nong-Phuoc Long-Binh Long and to kick off construction works on 500KV transmission line to transmit electricity in the power centres of Vinh Tan, Duyen Hai and the 500KV transmission line of Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong.
