EVN owes Vinacomin over 1.6tr dong

After the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam-PVN) denounced that Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) still owes PetroVietnam Group five trillion dong, recently, Vietnam National Coal and Minerals Industries Group (Vinacomin) also said that EVN owes Vinacomin about 1.6 trillion dong for coal and electricity purchases.

Particularly, till March 31, 2011, EVN owed Vinacomin over 1.6 trillion dong.

Due to the EVN’s debt situations with PVN and Vinacomin, an agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to organise a meeting amongst parties concerned that will be chaired by the ministry’s leader to seek solutions for these debts.

A solution offered is to allow EVN to borrow bank loans for debt repayments to PVN and Vinacomin. The loan rate will be from the sale of electricity through the electricity price adjustments.
